Ingredients:
- 1 (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- In a bowl, mix together the ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, spinach, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Spread the spinach and ricotta mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and place it over the filling, pressing the edges to seal.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the puff pastry into the shape of a Christmas tree, trimming away excess pastry.
- Cut horizontal slits on each side of the tree, leaving the center intact. Twist each strip to create a spiral effect.
- Brush the entire tree with beaten egg wash.
- Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and puffed, about 20-25 minutes. Serve warm.
