Prep time: 15 minutes | Bake time: 12-15 minutes
Ingredients
8 string cheese sticks
1 tube (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza crust (or 1 lb fresh pizza dough)
4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
For serving: Warm marinara or pizza sauce
Instructions
1. Prep the Cheese and Butter
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut each string cheese stick into 3 or 4 equal pieces (about 1-inch chunks). In a small bowl, whisk the melted butter, dried oregano, and garlic powder together.
2. Prepare the Dough
Unroll your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Stretch it slightly into a rectangle and cut it into 24 to 32 small squares (depending on how many cheese chunks you have).
3. Assemble the Bites
Place one piece of cheese in the center of each dough square. Wrap the dough around the cheese, pinching the seams tightly to ensure no cheese leaks out during baking. Roll it between your palms to form a smooth ball.
4. Season and Bake
Place the balls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops generously with about half of the garlic-herb butter.
Optional: Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese over the top for extra crustiness.
5. The Golden Finish
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is soft. Immediately after removing them from the oven, brush the remaining garlic-herb butter over the hot rolls to let the flavor soak in.
Serving Suggestion
Serve these warm while the cheese is still stretchy. They are best enjoyed dipped into a bowl of zesty marinara or even a spicy ranch dressing.
