Hearty Spaghetti Sauce with Beef and Herbs

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (16 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, and green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are tender.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Mix well.
  4. Add oregano, basil, salt, pepper, rosemary, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
  5. Bring to a simmer and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add red wine if desired and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley before serving.
