Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 25-30 mins | Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
The Base:
1 sheet Puff Pastry (thawed) or refrigerated Pizza Dough
1 lb (500g) Ground Beef (lean is better to avoid a soggy bottom)
The Seasoning:
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Paprika
Salt and Black Pepper (to taste)
Optional: 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or BBQ sauce for extra depth.
The Toppings/Filling:
2 cups Shredded Mozzarella or Monterey Jack (split into two parts)
1 Egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Fresh Parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, mix the raw ground beef with the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Pro Tip: For the best texture, ensure the meat is cold when spreading it onto the dough.
Assemble the Roll:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Roll out the pastry sheet on a piece of parchment paper.
Spread the seasoned ground beef in a thin, even layer across the dough, leaving a 1-inch border at the top edge (as seen in your photo).
Sprinkle half of the cheese over the meat.
Roll it Up:
Starting from the bottom edge, roll the dough tightly toward the clean border. Pinch the seam to seal it.
Bake – Phase 1:
Place the roll (seam-side down) on a baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg wash. Bake for 20 minutes.
Add the “Wow” Factor:
Remove from the oven. Top the roll with the remaining cheese. Return to the oven for another 5–10 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked through (internal temp of 160°F) and the cheese on top is golden brown and bubbly.
Serve:
Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Variations to Try
Bacon Cheeseburger: Add cooked bacon bits and chopped pickles inside.
Taco Style: Use taco seasoning and serve with salsa and sour cream.
Italian: Add a thin layer of marinara and use Italian seasoning in the beef.
