Homemade Flour Tortillas
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 ⅔ cups hot water
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
1. In a spacious bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, whisking until evenly blended.
2. Add the hot water and melted butter, mixing with your hands until a dough forms and all liquid is absorbed. If the dough is too sticky, add flour 1 tablespoon at a time as needed.
3. Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead about 10 times until smooth.
4. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape each into a ball. Flatten slightly into discs, lightly flour both sides, then cover with a towel.
5. Heat a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat.
6. Roll out one dough ball into an 8-inch circle, then place it in the hot pan. Cook for about 1 minute, then flip and cook for another 30 seconds or until golden brown spots appear.
7. Transfer the cooked tortilla to a towel and cover to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining dough.
Enjoy your fresh, homemade tortillas!
